Expertise
atesio is specialized in the use of mathematical models and methods for the planning and operation of networks, especially telecommunication networks (2G/3G/4G, SDH, IP/MPLS, fiber optics).
atesio offers consulting services, software modules and development services. The Berlin SME was founded in 2000.
Contribution
atesio contributes its expertise in radio and access network planning to 5G Berlin. On this basis, concrete, integrated network planning is possible as well as the development of new network planning and configuration methods (in the sense of SDN) to support the continuous, demand-oriented configuration of 5G networks.

Expertise
EANTC AG (European Advanced Networking Test Center) is one of the leading independent test centers for telecommunications technologies.
EANTC offers independent consulting as well as realistic and high-quality test services.
Its customers include manufacturers of network components, service providers and companies.
Contribution
EANTC develops new test methods for 5G networks and applications, which are prototypically used in the 5G Berlin context. We focus in particular on end-to-end interoperability, scalability and performance tests. They cover both the network infrastructure (SDN transport, slicing, Telco Cloud/NFV, edge computing) and the applications for various industrial sectors.

Expertise
With its clear orientation towards applied research and its focus on future-relevant key technologies such as 5G, Fraunhofer FOKUS has played a central role in the digital transformation of companies and public institutions for over 30 years. The provision of software tools and vendor-neutral test environments form an essential basis for this.
Contribution
FOKUS contributes its 5G Playground (Campus Moabit) as a test field environment to 5G Berlin. The 5G Playground integrates various local access networks (WLAN, Small Cells, LTE, 5G NR, satellites) with its own software-based 5G core network (Open5GCore.org). In this network, 5G terminals, network components and various 5G applications (e.g. automotive, manufacturing, safety) can be tested using network slicing or private network concepts. The 5G Playground can be coupled with other parts of 5G Berlin according to project requirements.

Expertise
Fraunhofer HHI is a global leader in the development of mobile and fixed broadband communication networks and multimedia systems. Focal points of independent and contract research conducted by Fraunhofer HHI are photonic components and systems, fiber optic sensor systems, and image signal processing and transmission.
Contribution
As the coordinator of the use-case group and technology supplier in the fields of optics, wireless and SDN/NFV, Fraunhofer HHI supports the association in many ways. With a planned indoor LiFi/WiFi/4G test field, HHI is testing already developed antennas, radio modules and network technology. The HHI is also involved in the construction and management of the outdoor test field – not least, it also provides its own equipment. In addition, the role of the institute in the board of directors and advisory board is to participate and to make organizational decisions.

Expertise
Fraunhofer IZM stands for application-oriented, industry-oriented research and development in the field of electronic system integration, in particular assembly and connection technology. With four technology clusters, the entire range required for the realization of reliable electronics and their integration into the application is covered.
Contribution
Interest: Design, manufacturing and testing of 5G millimeter wave components and modules
Contribution: Provision of a shielded cabin for antenna measurements

Expertise
GasLINE is one of the leading providers of fiber optic infrastructure and has a nationwide network with a current route length of over 28,000 km. An additional 3,000 km of new construction is planned by 2022. GasLINE offers Carrier Ethernet and wavelength service with transmission capacities of up to 200 Gbit/s in addition to the unswitched optical fibre.
Contribution
The innovation cluster “5G Berlin” operates a testbed for a next generation network with 5G technology. Making 5G networks available as a communication medium means active network construction in which fiber optics are always integrated. GasLINE is one of the founding members to support the research and to contribute our know-how.

Expertise
Germandrones was founded in Berlin in 2016. The company develops and produces the Songbird, a drone for professional purposes. It is a combination of fixed wing and multicopter with tilting rotors. The properties of traditional aircrafts with vertical take-off and landing characteristics are combined in the Songbird.

Expertise
Highstreet technologies is an SME founded in Berlin in 2008. Since 2014 highstreet technologies has been working on Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Network Function Virtualisation (NFV). In addition to consulting Tier 1 network operators, highstreet technologies develops SDN-based network applications and integrates them into executable systems.
Contribution
In 2017, highstreet technologies founded the Open SDN & NFV Lab (OSNL), an initiative that more than a dozen partners have joined. For the OSNL, 5G Berlin offers access to a realistic RAN. For the 5G Berlin test field, highstreet technologies will provide the SDN Controller.

Expertise
Infotecs develops Peer-to-Peer ViPNet technology to provide more security, flexibility and efficiency. The ViPNet Security and Threat Intelligence Platform offers comprehensive security for all enterprise levels in a unique cost-effective solution.
Contribution
The introduction of 5G will create completely new business areas that need to be protected against cyber attacks. Infotecs as security software manufacturer offers a solution for this. ViPNet is the only technology that supports true point-to-point encryption and is therefore highly secure. The security solution is scalable, flexible and easy to implement and manage.
